Learning is Active

Learning is an active event. It is participatory. You cannot learn passively. You can read all the books in the world about capitalism and its exploitation but until you look around you and apply that theory to the materials conditions of society, it is not learning or growing.

Agitate. Educate. Organize.

These are action verbs. They require action from you. Agitation requires direct action. Education requires theory. Organizing requires both.

When we are learning and doing education, we are able to funnel the agitation into organizing.

The words are in the order they are for a reason. People are agitated before they turn to education. Without education, agitation cannot be organized.

If you are agitated, find places where you can learn. The journey of learning never stops once it starts. Education guides our agitation to be productive, effective, and sustainable organizing.

We need all three, in that order. We all have different roles within those three but ultimately, we need to be doing all of them both individually and communally.
